تتعدد المخاطر التي تواجه الأعمال، بدءاً من مخاطر الصناعة نفسها (Business Risk) مثل المبيعات المسترجعة، وهي مخاطر يمكن مواجهتها، وصولاً إلى مخاطر أخرى متعلقة بأسواق المال (Financial Risks) مثل ارتفاع أسعار الفائدة البنكية وأسعار صرف العملات، وهي أكثر خطورة من مخاطر الصناعة لأنها خارج سيطرة الشركات، لذا ظهرت العديد من الوسائل مثل المشتقات (Derivatives) لمواجهة هذا النوع من المخاطر.
هذه الدورة هي دورة تمهيدية؛ فهي تلقي الضوء على أساسيات الموضوع بشكل عام بهدف التعريف به وبمحاوره الأساسية التي يجب الإلمام بها.
