يهدف هذا المساق إلى تعريف المتعلم المبتدئ بالمعلومات العامة والأساسية حول أحد أهم الجوانب التطبيقية في طب الأسنان، وهو أساسيات تكنولوجيا صناعة الأسنان. يُعد فني الأسنان جزءًا أساسيًا من الفريق الطبي، حيث يقوم بتصميم وتصنيع التعويضات السنية التي تعيد للمرضى وظيفة الفم الجمالية والوظيفية بعد فقدان الأسنان أو تلفها.
يتناول هذا المساق المبادئ الأساسية لتقنيات تصنيع الأسنان، بدءًا من التعرف على الأدوات و المواد المستخدمة وخصائصها
بالاضافه الى التطبيق العملي لصبّ الطبعات والنماذج السنية، وصولًا إلى مراحل تصنيع التركيبات المختلفة مثل التيجان والجسور والأطقم الكاملة والجزئية.
كما يهدف هذا المساق إلى توضيح العلاقة بين الدقة في العمل المخبري وجودة التعويض السني النهائي، إضافةً إلى إكساب الطلبة فهمًا عامًا للتكامل بين الجانب العملي والتقني من جهة، والجانب السريري من جهة أخرى.
