This course provides you with some of the skills and knowledge required to work as a professional crime analyst. You will explore various analysis techniques that are essential to the researching of crime and criminals, victims, disorder, quality of life issues, and internal police activities. Crime analysis uses both quantitative and qualitative approaches to assess data that is essential to law enforcement and the communities they serve. We start this course by defining crime analysis according to the spatial and temporal nature of the crime, look into the history of crime analysis, see the challenges it faces and look at its future. The important role of a crime analyst and the classification of crimes are also explained.
