Employee Relations, Safety, and Compliance

Overview

This course introduces the foundational concepts and practices that support effective employee relations and workplace safety. You will examine employee and employer rights related to workplace conduct, privacy, fairness, and engagement, and how these rights guide HR decisions and organizational practices.

It covers methods for gathering, documenting, and responding to employee feedback and workplace concerns, as well as common sources of employee conflict and the communication and disciplinary processes used to address issues consistently and fairly. It also addresses laws, policies, and procedures that support workplace safety, security, and risk prevention, including organizational responses to incidents and compliance requirements.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

● Identify employee and employer rights related to workplace conduct, privacy, and fairness

● Describe methods for gathering, documenting, and responding to employee concerns

● Explain sources of employee conflict and disciplinary and communication processes

● Identify laws, policies, and procedures that support workplace safety and risk prevention

Syllabus 4

  1. Building Positive Employee Relations 4 hours

    In this module, you will explain employee and employer rights, describe how HR supports workplace standards through compliance practices, and identify programs and feedback methods that help build positive employee relations.

  2. Conflict Resolution and Progressive Discipline 5 hours

    In this module, you will define workplace behavior standards, summarize complaint investigation and progressive discipline processes, and describe workforce reductions, restructuring, and offboarding practices.

  3. Performance Management and Appraisal 4 hours

    In this module, you will describe performance management and appraisal processes, explain common methods for evaluating employee performance, and identify how organizations support performance through feedback, development, and ongoing monitoring.

  4. Workplace Health, Safety, and Security 6.5 hours

    In the final module, you will explain workplace health, safety, and security practices, identify workplace risks and assessment methods, and describe laws, policies, and data security practices that help maintain a safe and secure work environment.
